Who we are
Prencipe International is a law firm. This policy explains what information we collect through prencipe.com and our related sites — including books.prencipe.com, case.prencipe.com and nydefensebar.com — what we do with it, and how to reach us about it.
This policy covers our marketing and website activity. It does not cover information you provide to us as a client, which is governed by the attorney–client relationship, our engagement letter, and our professional obligations of confidentiality.
Information you give us
- When you book a call. Our scheduling is handled by Calendly. When you book, you provide your name, email address, phone number, and anything you write in the booking form. Calendly processes this on our behalf.
- When you contact us. By email, phone, or a form on our site, we receive whatever you choose to send.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit our sites, we and our providers collect standard technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time spent, referring page, and approximate location derived from IP address.
We use cookies and similar technologies for this. Specifically:
- Google Analytics — to understand which pages are read and how visitors move through the site.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel — to measure our advertising and to show ads to people who have visited our sites. This sets first-party cookies.
- OpenAI advertising pixel — to measure advertising placed through OpenAI. This sets a first-party cookie.
- Google Tag Manager — the container that loads the technologies above.
Reading measurement. Where we send someone a document — such as a copy of a court filing, or one of our books — the link is tracked. We record that the document was opened, when, how many times, approximately how long it was read, and how far it was scrolled. This is associated with the person we sent it to. We use it to understand which materials are useful and whether a follow-up would be welcome.
Information we obtain from public records
We identify potential clients from publicly available court records, including the New York State Courts Electronic Filing system (NYSCEF), together with other publicly available sources.
From those sources we may hold a business or individual name, the case caption, the county and filing date, and publicly available contact information such as an email address, telephone number, business address, or professional profile.
We may therefore contact you even though you have not contacted us first. If you would prefer not to hear from us, see “Your choices” below; we will stop, promptly and permanently.
How we use information
- To respond to you, and to schedule and prepare for calls.
- To send information about our services, including the materials described above.
- To measure and improve our website, our materials, and our advertising.
- To show relevant advertising on Meta and other platforms.
- To keep records, meet our professional obligations, and comply with law.
Advertising, and how to opt out
We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and on other platforms. We may show ads to people who have visited our sites, or whose contact details we hold.
When we provide contact information to an advertising platform for this purpose, it is cryptographically hashed before it leaves our systems. The platform matches the hashed values against its own records, and we do not receive information back identifying who matched.
You can control this:
- Meta: Settings → Ads → Ad preferences, at accountscenter.facebook.com/ads
- Google: myadcenter.google.com
- Google Analytics: the browser opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Your browser: most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so will not prevent you from using our sites.
Your choices
To stop receiving email from us, use the unsubscribe link in any message, or email us at the address below. We will remove you promptly and keep a suppression record so that we do not contact you again.
To see, correct, or delete what we hold about you, email us at the address below. We will respond to any such request, wherever you live, and we will not treat you differently for making one.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it with service providers who work for us and who are obliged to use it only for that purpose:
- Google (Analytics, Tag Manager) — website measurement
- Meta Platforms — advertising measurement and delivery
- OpenAI — advertising measurement
- Calendly — scheduling
- Instantly — email delivery
- Airtable — our contact records
- Netlify and SiteGround — website hosting
We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or our professional obligations.
How long we keep information
- Website analytics: 26 months.
- Marketing contact records: until you ask us to delete them, or until the information is no longer current.
- Client records: in accordance with our file-retention obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our sites are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
